Foundation for Philippine Progress, Inc. Appeals for Support Following Two Earthquakes

Just a day after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that killed 16, a 6.2 magnitude struck the country. The Foundation for Philippine Progress, Inc. appeals to all concerned individuals and organizations in the United States for donations to help survivors recover and rebuild.

During the first earthquake in Luzon, Northern Philippines on Monday, some some were killed and injured inside a supermarket and others inside Clark Airport. In total, the earthquake brought damage to 29 buildings and structures.

“For a country where so many people are already so poor, natural disasters are devastating; pain is thrown upon pain,” said Alma Trinidad, President of the Foundation for Philippine Progress. “The second earthquake doubles the trauma for those already grieving, for those who have had no time to recover. The people of a country so used to typhoons have the resilience to recover, and we urge the international community to lend help.”

Donations are highly encouraged through the online donation link available at www.philippineprogress.org or through checks mailed to the Foundation for Philippine Progress, Inc. at 1137 SW Broadway, Portland, OR, 97205.
